GABE SILVERMAN: DIRECTOR | WRITER | DOP

Silverman is a journalist who has won more than a dozen awards for his reporting, including an Edward R. Murrow Award for his investigative work, a White House News Photographers Award for Best Documentary, & two Emmy nominations. He is a RIAS Fellow, an IFP Documentary Lab Fellow, and a funding recipient of the first-ever GLAAD Media Institute grant, Frameline Completion Fund, and many others. His debut feature, TransMilitary, premiered at SXSW 2018 where it won the Audience Award for Best Documentary and received critical acclaim. Silverman was named to the 10 Filmmakers to Watch list by The Independent. Silverman is the co-founder of SideXSide Studios.


FIONA DAWSON: CO-DIRECTOR | ORIGINAL CONCEPT

Fiona Dawson is an award winning director, producer & writer, LGBTQ advocate, and IFP Documentary Lab Fellow. She directed the Emmy® nominated Transgender, at War and in Love commissioned by The New York Times and co-directed the feature documentary TransMilitary, which chronicles the lives of four transgender service members defending their country’s freedom while fighting for their own. The film, directed and produced in collaboration with SideXSide Studios, premiered at South by Southwest (SXSW) 2018 and won the Best Feature Documentary Audience Award. Following a string of festival awards, TransMilitary made its TV debut on Logo on November 15th, 2018 and will be available to stream on a variety of platforms in 2019, including iTunes.

Fiona has previously filmed stories in India on sex trafficking, prostitution and HIV/AIDS. She hosted segments for HereTV during the 2012 Republican and Democratic conventions, she is published in NBC OUT, Curve magazine, FTM Magazine, The Advocate, The Huffington Post and The New York Times. In 2018 Fiona directed her first narrative short film More Than He Knows, which premiered at Martha’s Vineyard LGBTQ Film Festival in 2019 and is now available on Amazon Prime. A British native and American immigrant, Fiona lived in Houston, Texas for 11 ½ years working in the nonprofit sector and later in corporate social responsibility before moving to New York in 2011 to develop her media career.

In 2015 Fiona was honored by The White House as an LGBT Artist Champion of Change. She was voted Houston's Female Grand Marshal for the 2009 LGBT Pride Parade, has served on the National Board of Directors of the Human Rights Campaign and the Board of Directors for NLGJA - The Association of LGBTQ Journalists. Fiona lives in Brooklyn, NY where she is director of Free Lion Productions.


JAMIE COUGHLIN: PRODUCER | WRITER

Coughlin is a journalist and creative producer. She is the recipient of a White House News Photographers Award for Best Documentary, was nominated for an Emmy, and is a RIAS fellow and a 2017 IFP Documentary Lab Fellow. Coughlin has received funding from the first-ever GLAAD Media Institute grant, Frameline Completion Fund, and many others. She and Silverman started their production company, SideXSide Studios, 2015. Their first feature, TransMilitary, premiered at SXSW 2018, where it won the Audience Award for Best Documentary and received critical acclaim. Coughlin was named to the 10 Filmmakers to Watch list by The Independent.

GIL SELTZER: EDITor

Gil’s career as an editor has spanned over 20 years. He started out at CNN cutting Anderson Cooper’s 360 and moved on to editing commercials at several major brands and agencies. His work has featured the likes of Spike Lee, Brooke Shields, Alicia Keyes and Beyoncé. Directors he’s worked with include Bennett Miller, David Blaine and Inez and Vinoodh. Gil also worked with The History Channel on the edit of "Superheroes Decoded", a feature length show featuring George RR Martin and Stan Lee. He lives in Brooklyn with his son and dog and a temperamental vintage motorcycle.
